Frank Romano, had the last watch on the Madleen, the FREEDOM FLOTILLA vessel, on May 31, 2025, before it set sail for Gaza the next day.
Romano saw a flying object in the sky overhead, but was unable to identify it!
For the last two weeks, he was working hard on the Madleen boat, preparing to head to Gaza with the Freedom Flotilla and other activists. On June first, the day it was to head to Gaza, Romano was informed by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition that an Al Jazeera journalist was to take his place on the boat to Gaza. Romano was depressed.
He later shook off his depression by travelling to Augusta, to prepare another boat, getting it ready to soon travel to Gaza with humanitarian aid. Romano expects to be on this boat, this time, bringing food, water and medicine to Gazans.

The Madleen (of the Freedom Flotilla), on May 30, was launched from Augusta to Catania, where it will anchor and prepare for the trip to Gaza, carrying Humanitarian aid on June 1.

Romano was standing with many activists for Palestine in front of Trump Towers, Istanbul, Turkey. This was organized by Behesti Ismail, Mecid Bagcivan, and including members of the Freedom Flotilla such as Thiago Avila, Zohar Regev, Frank Romano and others.
Romano focused his speech on contesting Trumps intentions to occupy Gaza and turn it into the “Riviera of the Middle East.” His brother Thiago Avila also gave a speech that day.
Romano stated that some US leaders said that Palestinians living in Gaza will be temporarily removed to other locations during the reconstruction. They say the Gazans can return after reconstruction.
Romano warns the world that THIS IS A LIE, that Trump declared, himself, that Gazans will not be allowed to return to Gaza.

On February 15, there was a very, very powerful demonstration for Palestine in front of Trump Towers, Istanbul, Turkey. This was organized by Behesti Ismail, Mecid Bagcivan, and including members of the Freedom Flotilla such as Thiago Avila, Zohar Regev, Frank Romano and others.

They protested Trumps latest comments manifesting his intention to occupy Gaza, and turn it into the “Riviera of the Middle East.” He plans to transfer by force all the Palestinians living in Gaza to another location during the reconstruction. Afterwards, Trump declared that the Gazans will not be allowed to return to Gaza.
The protesters also want the owner of Trump Towers to remove the name Trump from the billboard overhead the shopping mall in Istanbul.
When Romano returns to New York in February, he will contact the activists there so they can organize a huge demonstration at Trump Towers in Manhattan, New York City, at the same time activists in Istanbul organize another demonstration at Trump Towers in Istanbul. Incha’allah!

He walked with thousands from the Faith Mosque, several kilometers in the street, advocating “Break the siege of Gaza.” It was after evening prayer. . . so many people carried torches during the demonstration against the genocide in Gaza.
Romano said, “I am from the Freedom Flotilla and I am honored to be hear together with you advocating the freedom of Palestine.”
With thousands, he led the chant, “Free Free Palestine.”
Romano added, “I strongly advocate a CEASE FIRE NOW. They cannot stop us and we will soon sail.”
He then led the chant, with the thousand enthusiastic people:
“Cease fire now, cease fire now. . .” and “We will sail, we will sail.”
At the head of the march, was Frank Romano, Beheşti İsmail Songür (IHH) and other activists from the Freedom Flotilla who had decided to stay in Istanbul after the Mavimarmara II ship was temporarily prevented by Israel from embarking to Gaza, laden with food and medicine for the starving and under medicated Gazans.
Romano, during his speech, advocated breaking the siege of Gaza and then lifting the blockade permanently, and then finally. . .freeing Palestine. . .forever!

The Freedom Flotilla was supposed to set sail but it was blocked by Israel. A “Freedom Flotilla” aimed at delivering aid to Gaza was blocked in Turkey Saturday after being denied use of two of its ships, which organisers blame on Israeli pressure.
The boat is loaded with 5,500 tons of food, medicine and essential supplies for the Gazan people!
The coalition of NGOs and other associations said it was unable to set sail after the West African country of Guinea-Bissau withdrew its flagged vessels. “Sadly, Guinea-Bissau has allowed itself to become complicit in Israel’s deliberate starvation, illegal siege and genocide of Palestinians in Gaza,” the Freedom Flotilla Coalition said.

Hundreds of activists aboard the Gaza Freedom Flotilla were blocked in Turkey on Saturday as they attempted to set sail for the besieged Palestinian territory with 5,500 tons of aid. Organizers say Guinea-Bissau withdrew its flagged ships under pressure from Israel and the United States.
The Gaza Freedom Flotilla brings together a “cross-section of humanity” in hundreds of community leaders from all walks of life to raise awareness of Israel’s blockade of Gaza and rally support for its end. “We are determined to stop this by direct action” where international governments “have sadly failed,” says one of the organizers of the Freedom Flotilla, the Palestinian American human rights attorney Huwaida Arraf.
“This is not the end. We are pursuing this legally and politically,” she says about this latest “minor setback.” Arraf was part of the previous iteration of the 2010 Gaza Freedom Flotilla, in which 10 participants were killed in an attack from the Israeli Navy when it raided the ships in international waters.

The members of the Freedom Flotilla, including Frank Romano, were in front leading the massive demonstration in solidarity with Palestine, namely Gaza. Among other things, they demanded an immediate cease fire and the entry of much more humanitarian aid and medicine to save the starving Gazans and help treat their many injuries, etc.
He marched with 25,000 activists starting at Beyazit Square, near the Hagia Sophia Mosque, downtown Istanbul.
The march took 4 hours and ended blocks later where many speakers were heard, including the mayor from Barcelona and Ann Wright, the director of the Freedom Flotilla Mission in Istanbul.

I do not condone targeting civilians. . . by either the Israelis or Palestinians.
When Israel bombs the tar out of Gaza, almost like butchering a cadaver, people say it’s “self-defense!”
When Palestinians however attack Israel, sending missiles there, etc., people say it’s “terrorism!”
The roots of this, is “ugly propaganda” and is a blatant double standard that is largely advocated by the press and the world!
Don’t look now, but the vicious Israeli government is butchering mostly innocent Palestinian civilians to avenge the recent killings and hostage taking of Israelis and others by Hamas soldiers.
This dirty, vicious cycle of revenge, on both sides must stop! The Israelis and Palestinians must say now, “I am fed up with the bloodshed, on both sides” so we must now find a solution for a durable peace.

We and other activists helped block a bulldozer from preparing the land to put the Bedouins after the Israeli soldiers intended to yank them from their homes. Then the soldiers intended to destroy the entire village, then destroy all the Bedouin communities around Khan al Ahmar. THE WORLD MUST RISE UP AND STOP THIS ATROCITY!! GOD WILLING, LET’S DO IT!! Frank Romano, my friend and fellow activist, was recently arrested with two Palestinians in Khan al-Ahmar for attempting to block a bulldozer from demolishing homes in the village. He is currently being detained by the Israeli military in the Russian Compound in Jerusalem, and has begun a hunger strike until the demolition is halted.

Then a group of Palestinian women were huddled in the doorway of a building near the Dome of the Rock when Israeli police shot stun grenades point blank at them. I questioned the Israeli soldiers and several turned on me. One brutally pushed me over the ledge and my body slammed down on the hard ground below. In the meantime, al hamdu lilla, the women were able to escape. I unfortunately was injured on my left ear and two or three stitches were required to close the wound (without anaesthesia, ouch!!). Frank Romano/Photo 1: Several Palestinians were violently shoved by the vicious Israeli police and I stepped up to asked why. Photo 2: They began shoving me then I resisted and shoved back. Then a cowardly Israeil policeman slugged me in the face and then ran into the Israeli lines after I went after him. That was an unnecessary and cowardly act. Frank Romano: Victory for the Palestinian people, all Muslims and peace activists worldwide. After praying three days (I was present those 3 days), all day, in the streets next to Al Aqsa mosque, to protest the Israeli Governments plan to install cameras inside it, the Israeli government blinked, abandoning plans to install them. As such, worshippers agreed to enter and pray at the Al Aqsa mosque for the first time in two weeks. Frank Romano INJURED- tear-gas intoxication & hospitalized. During demonstration in solidarity of
Palestinian hunger strikers. A tear gas canister exploded near me and I kicked it away. Then I tried to escape but was surrounded by gas fumes as many cartridges had landed all around me at the same time. I fell to my knees almost unconscious and the Palestinian Medics saved me. Spitting up fleme, tears flowing with acute pain in my lungs, I could barely breathe as they pulled me to the ambulance at their own risk of intoxication, immediately giving me oxygen. Not sure if I would have survived that if they hadn’t quickly reacted.
Within minutes I could breathe more easily coughing less, but they insisted I go to the hospital.The medics were coughing, spitting up fleme, etc. as they treated me in the ambulance. At the hospital, the doctor said my oxygen count was very low and I needed oxygen fast. After about 30-45 minutes of O2 inhalation I was better and returned to the demonstration in the ambulance. Frank Romano participated in a demonstration in solidarity with residents of Kufr Qaddoum (West Bank, near Nablus). They have united to demonstrate against the illegal Israeli settlement of Kedumim and the Israeli military’s closure of their village’s main road. Now that Kufr Qaddoum’s main road is closed to villagers, a 13-kilometer straight journey to Nablus has turned into a 26-kilometer detour through a busy West Bank artery. Arrived at 12:30 & greeted by a few carloads of police. As such, those interested in marching were soon convinced to turn away. If that was the goal of the police, they succeeded as many left. I’d like to think that the police were also there to protect the marchers. These are tense times!
In spite of that, a few stayed and marched around Manger Square, chanted, dialogued (See above). Beautiful!

Engaged in a non-violent march for freedom of Palestine in Hebron, West Bank, with group of Palestinian kids and adolescents, Romano is harassed and detained for 30 minutes by Israeli soldiers and told to put his megaphone and poster away. Photos below. The Palestinians, to avoid arrest, left upon seeing the Israeli soldiers approach. This is another example that Palestinians and I (in solidarity with their endeavor to be free) have no right to free speech, freely demonstrate, free association, etc. This is not an example of compassionate thought & practices of a democracy, but unbridled oppression by a raw, imposing “dictatorship” aided by its ever devoted accomplices, the United States and the Palestinian Authority (PA). Time to take action, my friends!
