Meet SULEMAN, an old, but strong man arrested with me, Frank Romano, on September 14th, 2018. SULEMAN IS MY FRIEND AND BROTHER FOR LIFE!
We and other activists helped block a bulldozer from preparing the land to put the Bedouins after the Israeli soldiers intended to yank them from their homes. Then the soldiers intended to destroy the entire village, then destroy all the Bedouin communities around Khan al Ahmar. THE WORLD MUST RISE UP AND STOP THIS ATROCITY!! GOD WILLING, LET’S DO IT!! We were arrested, jailed and later tried for various crimes in Israeli courts. Khan al Ahmar, Jericho Valley, Palestine, September 14th, 2018.

Frank Romano, my friend and fellow activist, was recently arrested with two Palestinians in Khan al-Ahmar for attempting to block a bulldozer from demolishing homes in the village. He is currently being detained by the Israeli military in the Russian Compound in Jerusalem, and has begun a hunger strike until the demolition is halted.
Frank Romano’s returned to al Khan al Akmar, Bedouin village. After Friday prayer, demonstration against Israeli Supreme Court decision to demolish the villages, school, etc. See Israeli police in background. 2nd photo: pushing by police and heated discussions. No injuries, thank God! Al Khan al Akmar, Jericho Valley, West Bank, Sept. 7, 2018.
Frank Romano under the tent in Bedouin village, Al-Khan al-Ahmar, near Jericho, West Bank in a Palestinian Bedouin community. Demonstrating against its demolition and displacement scheduled by the Israeli government. Israel plans to displace hundreds of Bedouins in the community to first confiscate the land for military purposes then second, to open it up for construction of new settlements or expanding the settlement “Maale Adumim”. To rid an area of an ethnic group is a serious form of “ethnic cleansing,” the worst is “genocide.” July 27, 2018.

Frank Romano with beautiful daughter, la jamila. . . Victoria Romano in solidarity with Palestine, against the ruthless occupation of the West Bank, the heartless blockade of Gaza, and the latest irresponsible and unwise decision by the US president to declare Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, while completely ignoring the Palestinian claim on Jerusalem as its potential capital. We were there in spirit, body and heart at the Place de la République, Paris, France on December 9th, 2017. We’ll be back, again and again, and we won’t give up. . .ever!!
Then a group of Palestinian women were huddled in the doorway of a building near the Dome of the Rock when Israeli police shot stun grenades point blank at them. I questioned the Israeli soldiers and several turned on me. One brutally pushed me over the ledge and my body slammed down on the hard ground below. In the meantime, al hamdu lilla, the women were able to escape. I unfortunately was injured on my left ear and two or three stitches were required to close the wound (without anaesthesia, ouch!!). Bummer! Photo 1: Romano during the stitches procedure. Photo 2: Romano standing next to the doctor who just stitched his ear. Old City, Jerusalem, July 27, 2017.
Frank Romano/Photo 1: Several Palestinians were violently shoved by the vicious Israeli police and I stepped up to asked why. Photo 2: They began shoving me then I resisted and shoved back. Then a cowardly Israeil policeman slugged me in the face and then ran into the Israeli lines after I went after him. That was an unnecessary and cowardly act. Then Palestinians drug me away to stop me and take me to the hospital to check my bleeding mouth. Only a surface wound, thank God! Frank Romano: Victory for the Palestinian people, all Muslims and peace activists worldwide. After praying three days (I was present those 3 days), all day, in the streets next to Al Aqsa mosque, to protest the Israeli Governments plan to install cameras inside it, the Israeli government blinked, abandoning plans to install them. As such, worshippers agreed to enter and pray at the Al Aqsa mosque for the first time in two weeks. Here we are preparing to pass through the barricades and then the gate to Haram al-Sharif (Temple Mount). Old City, Jerusalem, July 27, 2017.

See below an empty bullet shell from bullets shot by Israeli soldiers or police at us during yesterday’s May 12th demonstration at Beita village. Also see below a photo of my Kaffiyeh, burned when I tried to pick up a hot tear gas canister with it to throw away from demonstrators. Ramallah, West Bank, May 13th, 2017.
Frank Romano INJURED- tear-gas intoxication & hospitalized. During demonstration in solidarity of
Palestinian hunger strikers. A tear gas canister exploded near me and I kicked it away. Then I tried to escape but was surrounded by gas fumes as many cartridges had landed all around me at the same time. I fell to my knees almost unconscious and the Palestinian Medics saved me. Spitting up fleme, tears flowing with acute pain in my lungs, I could barely breathe as they pulled me to the ambulance at their own risk of intoxication, immediately giving me oxygen. Not sure if I would have survived that if they hadn’t quickly reacted.
Within minutes I could breathe more easily coughing less, but they insisted I go to the hospital. The medics were coughing, spitting up fleme, etc. as they treated me in the ambulance. At the hospital, the doctor said my oxygen count was very low and I needed oxygen fast. After about 30-45 minutes of O2 inhalation I was better and returned to the demonstration in the ambulance. Beita (near Nablus), West Bank. May 12th, 2017.

Frank Romano participated in a demonstration in solidarity with residents of Kufr Qaddoum (West Bank, near Nablus). See more photos below: Demonstrators were greeted by Israeli soldiers and police protecting the settlers and their blockage of the road. Frank Romano participated in a demonstration in solidarity with residents of Kufr Qaddoum (West Bank, near Nablus). They have united to demonstrate against the illegal Israeli settlement of Kedumim and the Israeli military’s closure of their village’s main road. Now that Kufr Qaddoum’s main road is closed to villagers, a 13-kilometer straight journey to Nablus has turned into a 26-kilometer detour through a busy West Bank artery. Demonstrators were greeted by Israeli soldiers and police protecting the settlers and their blockage of the road. March 31, 2017. See photos below:

UNFORGETTABLE- F. Romano Freedom March, Bethlehem, West Bank. March 22, 2016.
Arrived at 12:30 & greeted by a few carloads of police. As such, those interested in marching were soon convinced to turn away. If that was the goal of the police, they succeeded as many left. I’d like to think that the police were also there to protect the marchers. These are tense times!
In spite of that, a few stayed and marched around Manger Square, chanted, dialogued (See above). Beautiful!

DETAINED Frank ROMANO in Hebron TODAY March 19, 2016, Freedom March HALTED
Engaged in a non-violent march for freedom of Palestine in Hebron, West Bank, with group of Palestinian kids and adolescents, Romano is harassed and detained for 30 minutes by Israeli soldiers and told to put his megaphone and poster away. Photos below. The Palestinians, to avoid arrest, left upon seeing the Israeli soldiers approach. This is another example that Palestinians and I (in solidarity with their endeavor to be free) have no right to free speech, freely demonstrate, free association, etc. This is not an example of compassionate thought & practices of a democracy, but unbridled oppression by a raw, imposing “dictatorship” aided by its ever devoted accomplices, the United States and the Palestinian Authority (PA). Time to take action, my friends!

Interfaith Land Day and freedom/peace demonstration. Frank Romano, internationals and Palestinians. Here we are at the Qalandia Checkpoint! The soldiers stayed in the towers and were, for once, not lined up to greet us! Most Palestinians have left us now because the Israeli soldiers are shooting more live rounds than before. Also, see the Palestinian throwing rocks at the tower. The soldiers fired tear gas at us to disperse the Palestinian rock throwers. For once, the soldiers didn’t target non-violent activists and the press? Photographer: Susan Alleman, Friday, March 25th, 2016. See photo below:
Interfaith Land Day and freedom/peace demonstration. Frank Romano, internationals and Palestinians. Here we are walking near the Qalandia Checkpoint, approaching Israeli soldiers.
